Private Max Randolph Horan
World War II
World War One, the ‘war to end all wars’, was a distant memory. One thousand three hundred and fifty Toowoomba Grammar School Old Boys enlisted during World War Two. This time the Old Boys served in many countries from Europe, North Africa, the Middle and Far East. One hundred and twenty two Old Boys paid the Supreme Sacrifice. It is interesting to note that seventy per cent were in the RAF or RAAF. Some were prisoners of war on the Burma Railway and some were part of the most tragic story that took place at Sandakan in Sabah, Malaysia.
